Workshop:

Fine-Tuning EMDR Therapy Skills:

An EMDR Therapy Refresher Course

Presented by Kathleen Martin, LCSW

November 15-16, 2019

Yellowknife, NT, Canada

8:45 a.m. - 4:15 p.m. Both days

Abstract

This workshop's intent is to revitalize and fine-tune participants' EMDR therapy skills. Through a combination of lectures, live demonstrations and supervised practica, participants will review and learn the EMDR Standard Protocol at a deeper level. Clinicians who are afraid to use EMDR therapy in their practice will revitalize their skill and interest in using the protocol. Clinicians who already use the protocol will get live supervision to enhance their skill level even more. Advanced issues such as how to attune the dual attention stimuli to facilitate processing and what to do when a client with dissociative symptoms cannot tolerate Phase 4 processing will be taught. This workshop is for EMDR therapy clinicians at any level.

Objectives

1)    Define dual awareness and why this is vital for good treatment outcomes.

2)    Demonstrate 2 ways to attune the dual awareness stimuli to facilitate processing.

3)    Demonstrate correct implementation of the standard protocol in supervised practica.

4)    Fine-tune EMDR therapy skills
